We, at Enpat, conduct licensing and, when necessary, enforcement action. We always advance all costs of these activities and have reviewed hundreds of patent infringements since our 1995 incorporation. Most of our clients are small businesses and individuals who have sought, unsuccessfully, to license their patents against encroachers. Patent owners whose patents are not being infringed upon may want to consider obtaining patent enforcement insurance.
Inventors sometimes find it difficult to enforce their patent rights because of the expense of patent litigation or finding a qualified attorney willing to take the case on a contingent fee. Our preferred method of resolution is through negotiation or arbitration, but we are prepared to file patent infringement actions when necessary. We have rarely needed to go to court, but in those few instances the defendants took a license. We have negotiated several significant licenses with corporations without the need to resort to litigation.
